INSTAMATICS - Antonio Lopez (€67)

ALEXANDER WANG - Skirt (€350)

Track skirt with elastic waist band, bungee and stopper in acetate and polyester. Exposed zipper front pockets and shaped hem with side slits. Bemberg lining. This spring-summer, American designer Alexander Wang confirmed his status of Fashion Prodigy. With a collection encoded into his athletic chic, street-wear DNA, (and perhaps as fashion mentally limbering up for the Summer Olympics in London), this time around, the designer felt the need for speed, taking inspiration from BMX and motocross. The show displayed a succession of distinctive silhouettes or "gangs", as he described them, in a color palette opposing black to bright flashes of tangerine, violet, and teal. Indeed, we first saw laser-cut mesh bombers that revealed bright polos, followed by nylon cargo couture floral pieces, then sexy race-car intarsia knits, and finally body-con leather mini-dresses. As always, there was very little you couldn't imagine wearing while walking down the street and it all came together with a sense of cohesion and modernity. Overall Alexander Wang's work was fast, young, confident, and far from generic. 2012 Spring / Summer collection

ALEXANDER WANG - Shorts (€275)

Denim shorts in cotton and spandex with same-tone calfskin waistband and pockets. Zipped fly front, one button, belt loops. Two side pockets and two rear pockets. T by Alexander Wang has won a great attention from the press and the public since its launch in 2009. In the spirit of his “model off-duty” signature style, the second line is taking back all the Wang’s codes, adapting them into an almost exclusively basics wardrobe: sweat-shirts, tank tops, t-shirts, tunic dresses… For the 2012 spring-summer collection, the designer found inspiration in the BMX and motocross codes, as an echo to the main line. To the line’s signs of recognition (cosy knitwear, distended jersey and superimposition), he added some shirts and denim pieces, in neutral shades, with a touch of pastels. A combination of casual and boldness for an overall nonchalant and cool attitude. Resort Collection 2012

WATERGATE 10 MIXED BY MARCO RESMANN - Various artists (€19)

A mere 9 years old, Watergate has steadfastly become one of the world’s most prominent electronic music institutions. This is due in no small part to its heady combination of picturesque location - its dancefloors face directly out onto the river Spree - a wall-to-wall LED light installation and its impeccable music policy, with the cream of the electronic crop passing through its doors every week. The mix CD series, now in its tenth incarnation, is a further means for the club to stamp its seal onto the scene, with many of the club’s residents and regular talents having been invited to contribute. Previous artists have included the likes of Tiefschwarz, Ellen Allien, Sascha Funke and dOP, amongst others. This time round, longtime resident and Upon.You label boss Marco Resmann takes up the mantle and demonstrates how his unique tastes influence the Watergate sound. Marco Resmann first started out as the third man in Pan-Pot, these days a duo, and also as Anja Schneider’s producer, thus being integral to the early development of the Mobilee sound. Whilst also producing under the pseudonym Phage, he won critical acclaim as half of Luna City Express. Eventually building a network of like-minded collaborators around him to create the label Upon.You in 2007 has made Marco Resmann a very busy man in today’s thriving Berlin music scene. Busy has he may be, he’s still found time to effortlessly demonstrate why he’s been around this long, over 22 tracks of masterfully mixed house burners. Bookending the mix are some small audio snippets devised by him but the meat is supplied by classics like Ricardo Villalobos’ ‘808 The Bass Queen’ and Soulphiction’s ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’, his own exclusive collaborations with Kiki and Mike Shannon plus more by Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts, Anonym and other friends of Marco Resmann and the extended Watergate family Tracklist 01.
